This deal with the tablets is good. People using them at the meetings might have an undermining effect as they use them to shop, watch videos, read forums...generally drift attention away from the meeting...they may not learn TTATT or become 'apostates' but they might be less enthusiastic about giving time and money.

i had a music album by a gay guy before i was a jw and had no problem listening to it.

it's good music.

some of the lyrics are what you might call 'gay', that is there's some talk about boyfriends, gay bars, and queens and the intolerance the artist encountered as a gay man.

How many of you followed the WTS direction on education years ago and have been screwed by it?

i'm really interested in this question because i've heard for years that if you forgo further education and go pioneering, when you have a family down the track you will get a good job because jehovah will provide for you because you pioneered.

as long as i was a kool-aid drinker, even then, i thought, "how does pioneering pay your bills?

surely education should come first.

Yes Bill, they don't seem to understand that we are living in a world that increasingly expects its workers to be skilled and keep upgrading their skills. There's just no other way. I was working at an educational institution when the GFC hit in 2008 and we had adults crawling out of the woodwork to finish their high school certificates because they dropped out of school 20 years ago, got one of the plentiful unskilled labour/retail or hospitality jobs, and now the work is just not there anymore unless you have your school and vocational certificates. There are more applicants than there are jobs now, so if you have no skill, trade or profession, no one will even look at you.

I'm wanting to do a master's degree, not because I need one, but just because I can do it now! No guilt.

since it seems most study watchtowers are all about worshipping the gb, i decided to look at oct of this year through jan 2014 study watchtowers and list the title of the study article, then the rewritten title to show what the point and teaching for the jw's to take home was.

i did that to see if it taught anything not having to do with gb worship, obeying, etc.

I've seen that $50 in a number of Watchtowers these last few years. I assumed the Australian wt would have our $50, the American ones would have their $50. the Japanese their equivalent of $50 and so on and so forth so it was an amount all JWs could identify the large amount.

That could also be two fifties together in that pic. I've seen plenty of little old ladies put two fifties into the contribution box.

At least this picture shows an adult man's hand putting the money in, and not some story about how a child in dire poverty raised a pig or chicken and sold it for a dollar and gave the dollar to the WT. Taking money from impoverished families in developing countries, and making a virtue out of it!! Ok gonna stop typing before I begin ranting.

the generation scripture no longer is speaking about 'the end'.

So the great tribulation could go on for an indeterminate amount of time, but the anointed overlappers only have to be alive to see the 'beginning' of it. I can see how that would work. The last ones will be shuffling off the mortal coil, then Bam! GB 3.0 can say the great trib has begun.

Remembrance Day

being raised as a jw, i didnt pay much attention to remembrance day.

i didnt agree with war, why would i commemorate it?

but i always felt disrespectful when i declined to wear a poppy like everyone else.

Lest we forget. I wore my poppy for Corporal AJ McDonald who lies in Shrapnel Gully at Gallipoli and his nephew who was a Rat of Tobruk and my wonderful grandfather.

To our country men, who fell and those who came back and we their families who carry the flame.
